MONDAY MOTIVATION

šŸ’… BE THE CHANGE: Some in the fashion industry are attempting to demonstrate how ethical high fashion can becomeā€”it has a long way to go. This is embodied in the upcoming Ecology of Fashion exhibit: showcasing a mixture of famous outfits made by Oscar De La Renta, Givenchy, and other fashion legends. These creations demonstrate where nature and labor rights were fully honoredā€” and contrast them with fashions that had negative environmental or humanitarian impacts!

šŸ  RECIPE OF THE WEEK: Finally: something hearty, heartwarming and healthy. This Sweet Potato and Black Bean Chili hits every mark as a plant-based, gluten-free and dairy-free recipe, while still being incredibly filling and delicious. Packed with healthy herbs and spices for both flavor and nutrients, you also get tons of plant proteins and energy in every bowl.

šŸŒ³ SUPERFOOD SPOTLIGHT: Recently, African-based superfood ā€œBaobabā€ has rocketed into product lines all around the world. Sweet and tart, with tons of antioxidants and nutrients, this flavorful fruit foraged from towering trees may grace even more foodsā€” from yogurts and snack bars all the way to soft drinks and more. But, not without high cost to its native land and those who source it. Read about this delicate yet highly potent superfood industry, the people behind it, and its many benefits.

šŸ§  MIND: What is ā€˜putteringā€™? Does it sound like the brain-hack of powerful people? Apparently, itā€™s effective, and neuroscientists are in agreement: puttering could change the rhythm and energy of your whole day, along with your health in the long-term. Find out what puttering is and what the benefits are all about.

šŸƒ BODY: The perfect fuel for your next big idea or brainstorm could be nothing more than a good workout! Read about how taking care of your body with exercise, diet, and good sleep helps feed your body way in advanceā€”and why exercise especially unlocks better energy, memory, learning, cognition, and mental acuity, for even longer and further down the road.

šŸ§˜ SPIRIT: The spiritual technique of Transcendental Meditation (TM) is one surprising thing actor Hugh Jackman credits for his spontaneity, energy, and major comeback as a popular Hollywood actorā€” even getting shredded at age 55. Besides focusing on his workouts and physique, read about how Jackman uses mindfulness to navigate challenging days on set, stay grounded, and keep up with one co-star and friend in particular.

šŸ“” Tech Check

We eat right, exercise, sleep, spend time outdoors, work on our relationshipsā€¦

ā€¦but there may be another piece.

Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) are produced by the movement of electrically charged particles, and can be found everywhere in modern society.

While mainstream health organizations consider EMFs generally safe at low levels, there's concern about the potential harmful effects of long-term exposure. Especially from things like cell phones, Wi-Fi, and other wireless devices.

With the near unprecedented influence of telecommunications companiesā€¦many wonder if weā€™re seeing a repeat of ā€˜tobacco scienceā€™ ā€“ where negative evidence is swept under the rug.

While the research is still emerging, itā€™s clear our biology did NOT evolve alongside these frequencies to this degree.

Personally I follow the ā€œprecautionary principleā€ when it comes to anything we now have in high doses, but previously did not exist in the human experience.

You can take steps to limit exposure to EMFs by:

  • Choosing devices with lower EMF readings

  • Keeping your cell phone and other devices away from your head and body (especially kids!)

  • Use speakerphone or ā€˜air tubeā€™ headphones when on a call

  • Limiting wireless technology overall as much as possible

There are a few tools available which can help block or shield these energies from your vital organs.

The two Iā€™ve found most critical are the EMF-blocking laptop mat, and the air tube headphones.

Blocking EMFs under your computer (towards reproductive organs), and away from your inner ear (vulnerable part of your skull) is something you should consider.

I feel better using these protective tools and Bon Charge gives 20% off only to ECL readers so you can reduce your exposure as well. Just use code ECL.

Many environmental health experts I've spoken to say that 'electro-smog' (another name for EMFs) is the single biggest home health contaminant and almost no one is talking about it.

Ultimately, the potential harm from EMFs is still being studied, and there is much we don't yet know about the long-term effects

However, taking steps to protect yourself from high levels of EMFs can help minimize these potential risks and ensure that you and your loved ones stay healthy and safe.
