4/29/24: Mythbusting gut health, dairy-free sauce, and how-to pollinator garden

Your Monday Motivation of inspiration, recipes, superfoods, and tips for mind, body, and spirit...

Happy Monday my friend,

You’ve likely heard a lot of gut health in recent months and years. My friend Ari Whitten, M.S., is teaming up with researcher/professor/clinician Dr. Hawrelak to bust myths, simplify the science, and reveal practical secrets to optimizing your microbiome. It’s a masterclass event airing this Thursday May 2nd, so click HERE to save your seat.

Monday Motivation

🦋 BE THE CHANGE: After creating her own pollinator-attracting garden, this inspiring woman designed and created a butterfly garden for her son’s elementary school. “I often tell people that if I can create a pollinator garden in my yard, anyone can do it,” she says. Read how she planned it and see her photos of the completed garden here.

🧀 RECIPE OF THE WEEK: A creamy dairy-free pasta sauce doesn’t have to be chalky, boring, or store-bought. This is a warm and comforting sauce recipe my fiancée Riana has been inspired by in our own kitchen, and it’ll have dairy-lovers in your life wondering how in the world this sauce is dairy-free and tastes so yummy!

🫐 SUPERFOOD SPOTLIGHT: Goji berries, native to China – also known as the wolfberry – are renowned for their rich antioxidant content, including vitamin C, zeaxanthin, and beta-carotene, which support immune function and eye health. In traditional Chinese medicine, goji berry is known to calm and tonify the liver and kidneys. Their versatility makes them easy to incorporate into various soups and teas, and a lot of people like them topped on oatmeal, acai bowls, or in a trail mix.

🧠 MIND: New research published in Scientific Reports suggests that individuals with a stronger ability to be present in the moment tend to be happier, with genetics playing a role in this connection. Click here to learn how this study explores genetic makeup and how it influences mindfulness and overall well-being, shedding light on the intertwined nature of genetics and life experiences.

🌊 BODY: As warmer weather emerges for us in northwest Montana, I’m dreaming of paddle boarding on serene aquamarine lakes again. Do you have calm water near where you live? Paddle boarding is an awesome way to immerse yourself in nature while receiving these 10 important benefits to your body and soul!

🧖 SPIRIT: Ever heard of peat sauna therapy? An ancient Finnish tradition, it involves massaging a layer of mineral-rich peat mud all over the body, and allowing sauna heat to help it penetrate deep into the dermis. (Fun fact: I experienced a treatment with the only known Finnish peat sauna therapist in the United States this past fall!) In only one session, it’s known to reduce cellulite, joint pain, swelling, and improve circulation, detoxification, mental health, and overall rejuvenation.

Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely.
