5/13/24: Edible protein from...soil?

Your Monday Motivation of inspiration, recipes, superfoods, and tips for mind, body, and spirit...

Happy Monday my friend,

Do you own any digital 💰? I have mixed feelings because I support decentralization, but acknowledge the high energy needs to process transactions and mining. Guess how much water is estimated to cool computers every time Bitcoin is used (Answer HERE).

I’d love to know your thoughts. Is it good? Bad? Is that water estimate exaggerated? Hit reply and let me know.

Monday Motivation

🙋 BE THE CHANGE: You’re never too young to leave your mark on environmental activism. Read about 7-year-old Cora Jerching in New Jersey (my home state!) who received an honor from her mayor for spreading a petition to protect nature and endangered species. It’s proof that even the youngest among us are passionate about planetary health. If you’ve seen our film The Need To GROW, you know some of the most powerful activism starts small and grassroots!

🍳 RECIPE OF THE WEEK: A straightforward yet fantastic recipe for those avoiding gluten: try these Chickpea Flour Frittatas for Breakfast. Who knew the unlikely combination of chickpea, fresh veggies, and a muffin tin could set a new pace first thing in the morning? You’ll find this creation healthy, filling, and refreshingly different.

🌰 SUPERFOOD SPOTLIGHT: Most superfoods grow on trees or from the ground. But not this one
well, not quite. A new protein, called Solein (solar-protein), is in development and could find its way to your supermarket one day. What’s most interesting: it’s made from soil microbes! It comes in powdered protein form and apparently tastes: nutty, creamy, and savory. I am NOT endorsing this - merely keeping the ECL community informed (longterm health impact is still unknown). Check out the video laying out the process.

đŸ‘Ș MIND: Did you know: some forms of therapy suggest that we all might have multiple personalities? These modalities, such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) or “Parts Work,” are becoming more successful with all sorts of people—and no, it doesn’t indicate that we all have a mental affliction. It acknowledges we have different “parts” to our psyches. The way they interact with each other can set the course for our lives—and be a guide for resolving inner conflict!

🏃 BODY: We can’t live forever—but the right kind of exercise might keep you around longer than others. Learn more about why these types of exercise can slash your chances of early death by 20% and how they do it, including their benefits to factors like depression, cancer, heart disease, chronic illness, and so much more.

🔼 SPIRIT: If you’ve heard of tarot or other types of “card-reading”— even if you’re a skeptic, like me — you might appreciate the small independent artwork form this talented tarot and card deck artist who gives tarot decks (and other types of “oracle card” decks) a powerful artistic upgrade. Her art might make you curious about how some people get benefit from utilizing these spiritual tools.

Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results.
