6/10/24: Green skyscrapers, sauna blasts psychosis, & ancient flower heals skin

Historically used for healing and ceremonial practices, this ancient flower has lots of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial benefits

Happy Monday my friend,

Along with it being my birthday weekend, today is my grandmother’s 95th! I was blessed to spend the weekend in my hometown in New Jersey to celebrate this milestone with so much family (pic below). 🎈 One element that’s contributed to her longevity is that she lives on the second floor, and still walks up and down those stairs 3X/day at her age. Here are some other benefits of taking the stairs.

Monday Motivation

🏗 BE THE CHANGE: Though the world will continue to erect tall buildings all over the world, this sustainable-ag-focused Malaysian architect set out to change the world with his “bioclimatic” green skyscraper design. Kenneth Yeang describes bioclimatic architecture as the use of “passive, low-energy techniques such as building configuration, shading, component placement, material selection, solar- and wind-related orientation, natural ventilation, ‘sky courts’, and vertical landscaping.”

🌮 RECIPE OF THE WEEK: One thing you may not know about me is… I love tacos! 😍 Riana and I will often make tacos with Siete seasonings, grain-free taco shells, and lots of fresh produce from local organic farmers whenever possible. No matter your dietary preferences, this quick and easy taco bowl recipe with homemade mango pico de gallo is sure to please!

🌼 SUPERFOOD SPOTLIGHT: Calendula flower— historically used for healing and ceremonial practices— has lots of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial benefits. It can help heal skin conditions, reduce menstrual cramps, ease upset stomachs, and is terrific for wound healing. Calendula can soothe sore throats, protect against sun damage, and has anti-cancer properties. Ideal for sensitive or baby’s skin, it promotes hydration and firmness when used topically.

🧠 MIND: If you want to improve your mind and reduce risk of psychosis… get into a sauna! New research published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research unveils how regular sauna sessions, especially when combined with good fitness levels, can reduce the risk of developing psychosis, like schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. The home sauna I have is easy to set up, portable, has grounding built in. You can even transform your shower or closet into a sauna. 5% off auto applied HERE.

💆‍♀️ BODY: Scalp massages: more than just a spa treat! Studies show massaging your scalp can ease headaches, lower blood pressure, and even boost hair growth. Follow this guide to learn how to give yourself (or your partner!) a fast and relaxing scalp massage at home in just a few minutes, plus tips on using essential oils for an extra boost.

💫 SPIRIT: Fellow outer space nerds unite! Astronomists are using the latest tech with the James Webb Telescope to observe a new-to-science distant galaxy 1.6k-light years across, “hundreds of millions of times the mass of the Sun.” The luminous galaxy is a record-breaking discovery, as they also describe how it’s an early galaxy formed— just 290M years after the Big Bang.

☕️ Best part of my morning

My fiancée and I look forward to brewing Purity Coffee every morning together because it’s consciously sourced, organic, specialty grade, tested for heavy metals, mycotoxins, and pesticides, and precision roasted to order.

No coffee company I’ve on Earth focuses on the health of the consumer and the health of the ecosystem the way Purity does.

(Our fave is “Ease,” but you can’t go wrong with any of their whole beans!)

They are supporting regenerative agriculture, protecting farmers, birds, and wildlife, and roasting in ways to give you all the good, with none of the downsides.
