Your Monday Motivation of inspiration, recipes, superfoods, and tips for mind, body, and spirit...

Happy June my friend,

I’m not sure I’ve ever asked ECL readers to sign a petition: In the US, regenerative agriculture is gaining momentum and the policy side of this movement makes a massive difference. Help us reach 34k signatures to Congress - representing the 34M acres already in regenerative transition.

Add your name to the Petition for Regenerative Agriculture today, to support the thousands of farmers and ranchers who are truly healing our land.

Monday Motivation

🐟 BE THE CHANGE: Hank Adams was a dedicated Assiniboine-Sioux Native American activist, who tirelessly fought for treaty fishing rights. A Montana native, he played a crucial role in resolving the tense 1973 Wounded Knee standoff and used his strategic mind, “encyclopedic knowledge of Indian law” and media savvy to champion Indigenous causes, earning him widespread recognition in his life and career.

🍔 RECIPE OF THE WEEK: These delicious black bean burgers are packed with protein and fiber, made with black beans, veggies, warming spices, and shredded carrots. They’re easy to make, hold together well, and plant-based. Top with avocado, onion, tomato, and the super addicting garlic tahini sauce mentioned in the recipe.

🍇 SUPERFOOD SPOTLIGHT: A tiny— but mighty— berry is known to have anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer effects. Amazonian tribes have used acai extracts for digestive issues, fever, menstrual pain, liver problems, and malaria. Learn more (and read some suggestions for preparing and serving acai berry dishes) here.

🧠 MIND: Is there an easy way to predict the onset of dementia? Latest research shows that visual sensitivity tests can predict dementia 12 years prior to diagnosis, based on how visual issues can be “an early indicator of cognitive decline as the toxic amyloid plaques associated with Alzheimer’s disease may first affect areas of the brain associated with vision,” researchers say.

☀️ BODY: If you need a new morning wake-up call for your hips, try this gentle guided 15-minute yoga session. This class is grounding, activates your core stabilizer muscles, releases hip tension, opens and softens your muscles, and is terrific for any age or activity level.

🌹 SPIRIT: Say hello to your inner alchemist with the magic of rose oil. Rose oil offers scientifically-backed benefits for both mind and body, with studies reporting it can reduce stress and anxiety, promote restful sleep, and offer antiseptic, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. (I like to massage rose oil onto my neck and heart area before bed as a powerful inner peace reminder.)

 😀 The ‘Happy Hormone’

Once upon a time, we believed that serotonin a.k.a. the happy hormone was produced in the brain.

Well, that story is old news now.

Breakthrough studies have revealed that 90% of serotonin is produced by your gut bacteria.

This led researchers to look into the power of your gut to help treat anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders.

In fact, a systematic review of 10 human trials published in the Annals of General Psychiatry found that consuming gut bacteria (as probiotics) can help alleviate feelings of depression and anxiety in as little as 20 days!

But this groundbreaking science is far from reaching the general public.

They will show you how to overcome mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, brain fog, and mood disorders by using proven strategies to heal your gut.

This series is so comprehensive that I’m positive it will change many lives.

I hope one of them will be yours.

As far as I can tell, it’s just about letting the universe know what you want and then working toward it while letting go of how it comes to pass.
