❄️ Can Water Really Hold Memory?
Wildlife, ecosystems, language, nutrition, sustainable living, and personal recommendations
Happy Wednesday my friend,
Every river begins somewhere. A hidden spring, a pure source. Today we explore what happens when we reconnect with water in its most natural form, from my favorite Find A Spring to the fascinating (and controversial) science of structured water.
Plus: a rare white Iberian lynx, the healing power of morin, and a few simple rituals to bring more intention into what you drink, eat, and feel.

🐾 Iberian Lynx (spotlight on the new white sighting)
A wildlife photographer in southern Spain recently photographed a white Iberian lynx in the mountains of Jaén. Researchers believe it is a four-year-old female known as Satureja, and say the pale coat is not classic albinism but an unusual pigmentation change. The exact spot is being kept quiet to protect the cat. See details and images in PEOPLE and coverage from Mathrubhumi.
The Iberian lynx is a rabbit-hunting wild cat native to Spain and Portugal. After crashing to fewer than 100 animals in the early 2000s, the population has rebounded through breeding, habitat work, and reintroductions, and its global status shifted from Endangered to Vulnerable in 2024. That recovery makes this rare white individual even more newsworthy.

Water’s Hidden Memory & What It Means for You
How often when you drink a glass of water do you pause to think about where it came from, how it flowed, and what it may carry? Over the years Riana and I have become increasingly curious about the idea that water could hold more than just H₂O in motion. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to live near a great spring water source, and we’ve begun opening our mind by watching demonstrations by Veda Austin (whose images and live sessions friends of mine have seen first-hand), and considered the provocative (and controversial) experiments of Masaru Emoto. The question to me isn’t just whether water has “memory,” but rather why our relationship with water matters.
Key Figures and Their Work
Masaru Emoto popularized the idea that water crystals reflect human intention and that water could record emotions, words, or music. His book The Hidden Messages in Water became a bestseller, yet his work has been widely criticized as lacking rigorous scientific controls (Wikipedia is often quite biased). On the other hand, Veda Austin is a modern practitioner whose demonstrations of water’s behavior are visually compelling… and while less formally scientific, what I’ve seen from her demonstrations over and over leaves a strong impression.
