Wildlife, ecosystems, language, nutrition, sustainable living, and personal recommendations
Happy Wednesday my friend,
I love sharing these stories about lesser known species, nutrition hacks, and the existing scientific literature behind things that many people write off as being not super important (like sound’s ability to influence our mental and physical health). I hope you’ll consider upgrading today to support this newsletter and the big efforts we have in the coming months with the release of several new films! More details to come on that soon!

The Tibetan Fox
The Tibetan fox is one of the rarest fox species and lives high on the Himalayan and Tibetan Plateau. It has a thick coat, a boxy head, and a long, bushy tail. This body shape helps it keep warm in cold, windy places. It hunts mostly pikas, but also eats marmots, small rodents, lizards, and carrion. For a clear overview of its range, look, and behavior, see more HERE.
Tibetan foxes will sometimes follow brown bears that dig into pika burrows. When the prey runs, the fox grabs it. Pairs raise their young in underground dens and both parents bring food. Check out this amazing VIDEO of a Tibetan fox collaborating with a bear.

The Healing Power of Sound
For many years when I’ve sat down to meditate I’ve used sound to help shift my brain waves and calm my mind. I often use a technology called Holosync or simply find calming spiritual music on a streaming service while I’m in the sauna or taking a bath. These sound routines help me slow down, release tension, and enter a state of inner reflection. For me, sound has never been just a background. It’s been a tool to unlock my brain’s potential.
Classical Music and Brain Function
Growing up as a musician and choral singer, I’m a fan of classical music. I understand not everyone is into it, but once you know the science you may want to give it a try. Listening to classical music has been shown to activate large parts of the brain, including the hippocampus, amygdala, and reward circuits. As stated in the Harvard medicine magazine, “Music also lights up nearly all of the brain … including … emotional responses”.
Other research found that when people listened to classical music, they had better memory, attention and mood than when they listened to white noise or no music at all. Another study found that playing classical music for middle‑aged women improved functional mobility and attention.
The ideas is quite simple: when you listen to steady, structured sound, you give your nervous system something predictable and safe to tune into, which helps create calm.
