12/9/24: šŸ”Š Sound therapy quantum leap, rucksacking trend, oldest wild bird

Happy Monday my friend,

Here’s to a productive week as you may be preparing for some upcoming holiday travel or hosting. One company I’ve been loving this season is Pique, with

the highest quality matcha available. Click the image below ā¬‡ļø to check out their site, because right now they’ve giving 12 samples with anything else you get. Great time to check out a best-in-class brand.

My go to holiday drink!

The holidays can bring delicious indulgences, but they often lead to digestive discomfort. That’s where Pique’s Nandaka comes in! This blend of Pu’er Black and Green Teas, adaptogenic mushrooms, and ceremonial-grade Peruvian cacao offers gentle, sustained energy without the crash. With just 82mg of slow-release caffeine, it’s perfect hot or cold.

As the holiday season approaches, consider gifting Nandaka to loved ones seeking a healthier coffee alternative. Plus, enjoy 20% off on Pique’s best sellers! Don’t miss this chance to gift wellness!

MONDAY MOTIVATION

I took this sunrise shot early in the morning after camping atop Pedra da Gavea last June. My friends and I were the only ones up there to witness, and that is probably the best sunrise I will ever see in my life. You can see some of Rio’s most famous landmarks in this photo.

šŸžļø BE THE CHANGE: Read about Indigenous Brazilian environmentalism, and activist Tracy Devine GuzmĆ”n, who worked decades centering Indigenous culture and language as solutions for our modern environmental problems. She received the Fulbright Scholar Award to fund her work - full of illuminating research that suggests: to look forward into a future of ecological change, we must look backwards— and learn how our ancestors interacted with the landscape.

šŸ‚ RECIPE OF THE WEEK: Healthy, toasty, and cozy: no matter where you are or the season, you’ll enjoy this Curry Butternut Squash soup full of ā€œhyggeā€ vibes - complete with delicious seasonings, vegetables, curry, butternut, and even apples to amp up fall flavor. Soups in this wheelhouse are probably my most favorite - hope you give it a try!

🌱 SUPERFOOD SPOTLIGHT: If you can’t join ā€˜em— beet ā€˜em! If you’re a fan of beets, you’re already in superfood territory: this ruby root can increase athletic performance, boost cardiovascular health, restore gut function and enhance your immune system. Tip: I use beets before a workout to increase nitric oxide. There are supplements, or even better, use the real thing!

🧠 MIND: Scientists propose that sound wave therapies could replace invasive brain surgeries, pharmaceuticals, and other treatments in the near future! By aiming specific ultrasound waves at the brain, patients with conditions ranging from depression, Alzheimer’s, and brain injuries to even eating disorders and chronic pain could find relief and therapy— the results from their studies are astounding. How the treatments actually work is also a FASCINATING read!

šŸŽ’ BODY: There’s walking, there’s hiking, there’s even running or jogging— and then there’s ā€œrucking!ā€ What is this exercise, and why is it becoming so popular? Originally developed in the military, rucking (or rucksacking) takes ordinary walking and transforms it into resistance training— helping you build muscle, endurance, and even some mental health benefits.

🧘 SPIRIT: I often praise meditation — but for some, meditation can bring stress instead of calm. So, are there ways you can reach those same spiritual benefits in a different way? Read this column from a neuroscience PhD who explains why meditation doesn’t work for him— what he tried instead, the dark side of meditation, tips for those who struggle, and how he feels restored taking a different path.

Working within a small space, but wishing you could grow fresh, flavorful greens year-round?

Microgreens—tiny, easy-to-grow greens—are perfect for small spaces and can transform your indoors into a vibrant oasis.

If you’re in an apartment, condo, or simply short on space, microgreens make it possible to enjoy home-grown greens– wherever you call home!

That’s why our friends at Grow Your Own Vegetables created a 3-Day online event to show you how easy it can be to grow your own food in your own home!

Why microgreens?

  • 🌿 They grow incredibly fast— ready to harvest in just 7-14 days.

  • 🌿 Perfect for small spaces— you only need a windowsill or counter!
