🥤 SODA SICK: New analysis of 103k study participants conclude consumption of both sugar-sweetened sodas and artificially sweetened “diet sodas” were linked to a higher risk for a type of liver disease called MALSD. MALSD affects 10-15% of U.S. kids, and stands for “metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease”— a buildup of fat in the liver that didn’t come from drinking alcohol. Click here to learn more.

♳ PLASTIC IN THE GUT: A new study this week revealed that microbial composition in the gut “reflected patterns previously linked with conditions such as depression and colorectal cancer” when exposed to “typical” concentrations of microplastics. The lead author of the study says public education and more research is essential, and we need to treat "plastic pollution as a serious public health issue."
