🐿️ CREATURE FEATURE 🐿️

The Ghost Shark
Despite its spooky name, the ghost shark isn’t a true shark at all, it’s a distant relative, part of an ancient group called chimaeras that split from sharks over 400M years ago. With its eerie, pale body, wing-like fins, and rabbit-like teeth, this deep-sea dweller looks like it swam out of a dream… or a nightmare.
Ghost sharks live in the deep ocean, often below 2k feet, making them difficult to study. But recent footage from NOAA deep-sea expeditions has given us rare glimpses into their strange world. These fish have venomous spines in front of their dorsal fins and use electroreception (a sixth sense) to detect prey on the dark seafloor.
One of their most bizarre features? Males have retractable reproduction organs on their heads called cephalic claspers, used to grasp females during mating. It's just one of many reasons ghost sharks continue to mystify scientists, while reminding us how little we know about the hidden life in Earth’s deep oceans.
🔑 Your SLEEP is the key
Once upon a time, we rose with the sun and slept under the stars — no alarms, no deadlines, no glowing screens to keep us wired through the night. Somewhere along the way, we lost that rhythm.
Today, 1 in 3 adults is chronically sleep-deprived. Sleep disorders are skyrocketing. But the truth is, our bodies already know how to rest and heal. We just need to return to the wisdom that’s been with us all along.
My friend Nick Polizzi created a beautifully designed eBook called 9 Natural Biohacks for Better Sleep … and he’s giving it away to you. These aren’t high-tech gadgets or complicated routines. They’re simple, science-backed practices rooted in nature: light, temperature, daily rhythms, herbs, breath, and rituals that restore our circadian balance.
Inside, you’ll discover:
How natural rhythms (not pills) unlock deeper sleep
Practices to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer
Herbal allies, tea rituals, and restorative foods for the gut-brain-sleep axis
The science behind ancient traditions — and how to use them today
This guide also unlocks Nick’s upcoming docuseries PROVEN: Healing Breakthroughs Backed by Science.
Better sleep is the foundation of true healing.

Nostomania: An intense homesickness or longing for a place you once lived or visited.
🌎 INTO THE…🌎

Into the Volcano
Volcanoes are Earth’s pressure valves. They’re openings where molten rock, gases, and minerals erupt from the planet’s core. These dramatic events reshape landscapes in an instant, creating new land while leaving trails of ash and lava that seem lifeless at first. However, beneath the smoke and fire, volcanoes are also engines of fertility. Their eruptions enrich soils with minerals, which is why volcanic regions like Hawai‘i and Iceland host some of the most productive ecosystems on the planet.
Life finds a way even in the harshest aftermath. Within years of an eruption, pioneer plants like mosses and ferns colonize hardened lava, breaking it down into soil. Insects, birds, and small mammals follow, turning once-barren fields into new habitats. Volcanic landscapes remind us that destruction and creation are two sides of the same process – out of fiery upheaval, ecosystems are reborn. If you want to real deep dive on this, here is a great Youtube documentary.

🍎 NUTRITION 101 🍎
FLAVONOIDS: Flavonoids are a group of natural compounds found in colorful plant foods like berries, citrus fruits, apples, onions, and tea. These powerful phytonutrients act as antioxidants, helping to protect cells from damage and support heart health, brain function, and anti-inflammatory processes. Including a variety of flavonoid-rich foods in the diet is a simple way to enhance overall wellness. For a deeper dive into food sources and benefits, visit this guide on flavonoids.

Toxic Sunblock: What’s Harming Us and the Planet?
Sunscreen is supposed to protect us. From sunburns, skin cancer, premature aging. Blocking excessive UV radiation is undeniably important. But the question which not enough of us are asking:
What’s in the sunscreen itself? And what’s it doing to our bodies… and the planet?
New research is raising red flags about the ingredients in many conventional sunscreens. It turns out the chemicals meant to shield us from one kind of harm may be exposing us to another – one that’s far less visible but just as serious.
This is a deeper story about interconnected health – where personal care becomes planetary care, and where real safety goes beyond SPF.

☠️ Common Sunscreen Chemicals to Know (and Rethink)
Let’s start with the main ingredients in chemical sunscreens which are found in popular sprays, lotions, moisturizers, and makeup. Sure, these compounds absorb UV rays, but at what cost?
Here are the most concerning offenders:
