This week's top stories on human & planetary health

Happy Friday my friend,

What makes reforestation absolutely adorable? šŸ•šŸ’Ø These dogs wearing native plant seed ā€œbackpacksā€, who run through fire-affected areas, dispersing seeds as they dart through the forest!

šŸ‘œ PLANT-BASED LEATHER: Startup Alt. Leather has created Australiaā€™s first 100% plant-based leather alternative, made from agricultural waste and natural fibers with zero plastics or animal products. This sustainable material mimics the look and feel of leather while reducing environmental impacts, designed for industries like fashion and car interiors. Click here to learn more.

šŸŒ³ POWER PLANT: Energy producer Vattenfall has canceled their plans for the Netherlands' largest wood pellet biomass plant. This decision marks a major accomplishment for Dutch forest conservationists who argue that biomass energy production of this type ā€œproduces more carbon emissions per unit of energy than coal,ā€ and contributes to deforestation and biodiversity loss. Read more about this landmark decision and the ripple effects it may have around protecting forests around the world.

šŸ¦‡ BATTY NAVIGATION: Ever wonder how bats never crash into each other during events like mass cave exits and other high-density ā€œrush hourā€ flights? Scientists at Tel Aviv University reveal that bat echolocation call patterns shift drastically within seconds of cave emergence to avoid signal ā€œjamming,ā€ and individual bats are focused on the immediate bat and noise in front of themā€“ not all the bats in the group. Take a moment to be in awe of our flighted friends HERE and read about this bat study.

šŸ¬ STICKY SITUATION: Is your piece of chewing gum actually justā€¦ plastic? Scientists say a single piece of gum can release thousands of microplastic particles within 2 minutes of chewing. Even ā€œnaturalā€ gum contains abundant polyolefins, ā€œa group of plastics that includes polyethylene and polypropylene.ā€ These plastics are detached during chewing and ingested, ā€œand a large piece of gum could release up to 3k plastic particles.ā€ If the average person chews a stick of gum roughly every other day, the researchers estimated that may result in the ingestion of around 30k microplastic particles per year.

šŸ‘‚ NATURE FOR YOUR NERVES: Whatā€™s one of the fastest ways to restore peace and harmony for your nervous system? Listen to nature sounds! These 7 sounds including rain, crackling fire, and chimes, can aid in relieving stress, emotional release, and improving concentration. Research has shown that listening to nature sounds helps to speed healing, and allows the body to recover faster after a stressful event

šŸ§  DEMENTIA BLOOD TEST: Is there a way to know how advanced Alzheimerā€™s symptoms are, or the extent of cognitive decline? An article published earlier this week reveals yes, thereā€™s a new blood test that can test for this, and it ā€œalso offers valuable insight into whether a personā€™s symptoms are due to Alzheimerā€™s or another underlying condition.ā€ Read more HERE about this groundbreaking advancement in Alzheimerā€™s research.

šŸ“³ What youā€™ve heard about 5G and EMFs

A team of Swedish scientists recently published something disturbing...

As you'll discover during the EMF Hazards Summit, they documented 8 case studies of people living near newly-installed 5G towers.

The results? Within days of activation, residents living within 150 feet developed unexplained symptoms. Headaches. Sleep issues. Fatigue. Even nosebleeds.

Once these people moved away? The symptoms vanished.

The radiation levels measured near these towers were still "within safety limits" according to government guidelines.

Meanwhile, 5G towers are being installed in neighborhoods across the world. Every. Single. Day. Even directly on school campuses.

During the 2025 EMF Hazards Summit: Safeguard Our Future (April 10-15), journalist Mona Nilsson will reveal:

  • Why current "safety" limits could be up to 100k X too high

  • The astronomical radiation levels measured near these towers

  • Why some people (and even pets) got sick while others didn't

  • What this means for your family's safety

  • Simple steps to protect yourself if you live near a tower

Featuring 2 of my personal colleagues Zen Honeycutt, and Dr. Martha Herbert

You deserve to know about these findings. Join us at the EMF Hazards Summit to learn the facts and get practical solutions to protect yourself, and future generations.

After diving off the island of Molokini, we were provided an escort by this graceful team of Spinners. They were right alongside the boat. I must have taken 300 images and fell off my chair when I saw this one.
