🧄Unseen culprits: fabric, water, and air

Inspiration, recipes, superfood, and tips for mind, body, and spirit

Happy Monday my friend,

So much of health comes down to what we don’t see. Coatings on our clothes, particles in our air, energy in our water – each silently accumulating and affecting how we feel every day. This week’s newsletter brings attention to those subtle, often-overlooked layers of our environment.

MONDAY MOTIVATION

šŸ·ļø LABEL DECODER: Water resistant • Stain resistant
If you see these listed on apparel, upholstery, or gear, remember that these phrases often signal fluorinated coatings, also called PFAS. They help liquids bead up, but they do not stay put on the item. PFAS can shed, persist in the body and environment, and some are linked with immune and hormonal effects. Opt for untreated natural fibers like organic cotton, wool, or waxed canvas whenever possible. If you already own coated items, keep them outside bedrooms, ventilate after first opening packages, and wash less often to reduce shedding. Learn more about PFAS here.

šŸ”Š ECL READER FEEDBACK: Structured Water
Last week I wrote about structured water, and a thoughtful Earth Conscious Life reader sent me THIS PODCAST EPISODE featuring Clayton Nolte on the Soil Sisters show (two regenerative agriculture advocates). There are some big claims in there. If you have experience with structured water – tools you’ve tried, outcomes you noticed, or research you trust – hit reply and share.

ā¤ļø The 10-Second Shift
Before you get out of bed tomorrow, try placing a hand on your heart and taking three slow breaths. Name one thing you are grateful for, in your mind or out loud. This is your nervous system’s green light. And yes, something as simple as 3 deep breaths is rooted in science.

The Health Upgrade Too Often Overlooked

I’ve had AirDoctors in every room of my house for years, and I can honestly say they’re the best air purifiers I’ve ever used. Most people don’t realize indoor air can be up to five times more polluted than outdoor air. That means every breath we take at home matters – especially during the winter when windows stay closed.

The difference is tangible: clearer air, better sleep, and just an overall feeling of freshness. AirDoctor’s UltraHEPA filter captures particles as tiny as 0.003 microns – far beyond regular HEPA standards (and competitors) – removing pollutants like mold spores, smoke, pet dander, and even chemical off-gassing from furniture or paint.

If you’ve realized how important clean air is, now’s the time. AirDoctor’s Black Friday is offering hundreds off their most popular models, with $0 shipping. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.

šŸŖ„ MAGICAL PLACE
When I first saw photos of this forest, I thought it was computer generation. But THESE GLOW WORM CAVES are real! I’ve always wanted to visit New Zealand (as a Lord of the Rings nerd), and now I have one more reason. Reply and let me know if you’ve visited, and click to check out more photos.

šŸ‘©šŸ¾ā€šŸŒ¾ REGENERATIVE FUTURE
I’ve always admired the work of The Bionutrient Institute, as they’ve focused on the science and tools needed to demonstrate the nutrient density of our food, and how farming practices related to nutrition, and its impact on human health. Now, they’re introducing THIS URGENT TREATY to unify our conversations on what ā€œnutrient density in foodā€ truly means. Take a moment to support them and learn about their incredible work.

ā¬…ļø Last poll’s results

Do you look at 'Screen Time' metrics for phone or apps?

šŸŸØšŸŸØšŸŸØšŸŸØā¬œļøā¬œļø Yes, need to stay aware (41.4%)

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 No, I don't keep track (58.6%)

*Many readers wrote in saying they don’t use smart phones at all, and that is why they chose the ā€œNoā€ option here. So the percentages may be a bit confusing on this one. Either way, if you use a smart phone, it is a great practice to keep an awareness of your time spent. šŸ˜€
